4th ANNUAL LIMON MOUSE RACES

The mouse race is a findraiser to get this community excited to be a part of something so important! Racing mice will help Limon Rotary Club raise money to support projects such as the Veteran’s War Memorial here in Limon. This event is expected to bring in close to $10,000 in donations and provides an evening of fellowship and fun for our community!

• Similar to a night at the dog or horse races, each person attending receives a program at the door with the mice running in each of the heats. Limon Rotary has enlisted the help of the local high school marketing class to create biographies for the mice, ensuring that each mouse is attractive enough to auction off and bet on during races.  
• The evening will begin with a happy hour and dinner to allow for time for the “post race parade.” This time-frame allows ticket holders to get to know the mice and determine which ones to “invest” in (aka, “bet on”).
• Mice will then be auctioned off in a Calcutta style fashion. “Owners” will then be able to enter their mouse into the races. Owners will have the opportunity to win a portion of their auction back if their mouse wins in the final heat, and remaining proceeds will go to Limon Rotary.
• Live mice will be coaxed to travel through a miniature race course at fast speeds. Betters will go to one of the betting windows and place bets on the mouse they think will run the track the fastest. All monies received on bets will be returned to winners, but they will have the option to forgo the winnings and donate to The Limon Rotary.  
• Along with racing, the night features Mouse Roulette where individuals buy a playing card for a minimal amount with the opportunity to win a large sum. The cards are placed in a circle with a mouse released in the center; the winner is the person with the card the mouse steps on first.  
• Auction items, raffles, and adult beverages will be available for sale throughout the evening to keep the audience engaged and ready to raise money!

Limon Rotary is in the process of building the Eastern Colorado Veteran’s War Memorial in Pershing Cemetery. This memorial was created as a multi-faceted memorial to not only commemorate those who have served or are currently serving, but also to engage our youth with a live and historical educational experience. Seeing a historical timeline IN-PERSON allows students to feel the historical significance of such events- who, where, when, and most importantly why. This memorial is expected to increase our tourism, making Limon a central point for school field trips, a historical point of interest, and a stopping point for community events such as the Ride for the Wall.
