Our inspiration to transform

A few years ago, Limon Rotary was approached and asked to create a Veteran's War Memorial in memory of one of Limon's greatest:  Don Morrison.  Don Morrison flew 13 missions as a bombardier in a B17.  His stories have graced this community for decades, and creating a memorial in his honor was sure due.  

Limon Rotary began to research ideas for memorials, and we comfirmed that some of our communitie's greatest members served our wonderful country so that we can have the freedom's we enjoy today.   We wanted to find a way to honor all those who have served or are serving, so we designed the Eastern Colorado Veteran's War Memorial.  

Limon Rotary took this request as an honor, and that is why we have created a multi-faceted memorial to not only commemorate those who are or have served, but also to engage our youth with a live and historical educational experience.  Seeing a historical timeline IN PERSON allows students to feel the historical significance of such events- WHO, WHERE, WHEN, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY WHY.  

The Eastern Colorado Veteran's War Memorial will tell the story of EVERY major American Faught War throughout history!  The Pershing Cemetery entry will be lined with historical stories from each war, names of the brave men and women who were killed in action, as well as the names of surviving men and women who served or are currently serving. 

Although a memorial cannot bring back those we lost, our hope is that this memorial will help continue the legacy of our American Soldiers and the significant impact that they have made on our lives.  We look forward to this great adventure, and we are honored to commemorate these brave men and women and their families for the sacrifices that they have made throughout the history of this country.  To those men and women- WE THANK YOU!
